Because I was born on July 9, 1964 on Lakeland Farms in rural Perry County, the early years of my life were filled with the evidence of the racial prejudices and the demeaning injustices that we faced as African Americans. Began, birth, commence, start; these are all words that are refreshing and optimistic. Whether, they are used to refer to the beginning of a new day, the birth of a child, the commencement of a long awaited vacation, or the start of a symphony, these words are full of promise and free of problems. A Call To The Church {Matthew 16: 13-19; Romans 10: 8-15; Colossians 1: 12-14}

From the southern most tip of Florida to the northern most point of Maine, from the shores of Virginia, across the great Mid-west plains unto the star-studded coast of California, our nation has built many prisons in hopes of solving the ever-increasing problem of crime, violence and social decay.
